As with any large city in North America and many parts of the world, Toronto has its fair share of safe, and not so safe, neighbourhoods. Many factors come into play when determining the safety and security of a neighbourhood, such as personal safety, crime rates, and even digital security. Here are some of the safest, and most unsafe neighbourhoods in Toronto.

Forest Hill South (Safe)

Many sources cite Forest Hill South as the safest neighbourhood in Toronto. An affluent neighbourhood with large family homes, this neighbourhood has the lowest assault rate in Toronto.

Jane and Finch (Less-safe)

Jane and Finch in the northwest end of Toronto is often considered one of Toronto’s more unsafe neighbourhoods. This area is a lower income neighbourhood, consisting mostly of small single-family homes and high-rise apartment buildings. Jane and Finch has an elevated crime rate, when compared to other areas of Toronto.

Bridle-Path Sunnybrook-Yorkmills (Safe)

Another affluent neighbourhood, this area is also often cited as one of Toronto’s safest neighbourhoods. This neighbourhood has a very low assault rate, similar to Forest Hill South, and is also home to many celebrities and well-known individuals.

Regent Park (Less-safe)

Another neighbourhood with a higher crime rate, Regent Park is located in downtown Toronto. Regent park has historically made the national news due to problems with gang violence and crime, as a result of its history of social housing and poverty.

Thankfully, in light of having neighbourhoods that are safer and less safe, as whole Toronto is one of the safest cities in the world. However, Toronto safety and security is similar to any other major city in the world in that you should be proactive in protecting yourself, your home, and your business and assets, regardless of where they might be.
